Clarens, Free State is the home of Titanic Rock, an iconic part of the landscape that welcomes you as you arrive in our village. All four Titanic Challenge Trail Run distances will traverse this magnificent outcrop on trails maintained by the Clarens Village Conservancy to give you the very best views that Clarens offers.
All the proceeds of the Titanic Challenge Trail Run go to the Clarens Village Conservancy for the maintenance and upkeep of the trails and reserve.

Since May 2004 the Clarens Village Conservancy has been the guardians of the Clarens Nature Reserve which provides a platform for the families of visitors and residents from all walks of life to indulge in wholesome activities such as hiking, mountain biking and fishing in some of South Africa's most splendid scenery.

The CVC is a registered nonprofit organisation run by a committee of volunteers and its full-time field rangers. All the proceeds from the Titanic Challenge Trail Run will benefit the CVC and help them preserve and improve the natural wonders of the Clarens Nature Reserve.
ACCOMMODATION
There are countless accommodation units available in Clarens, however, they do tend to book up quickly! We are working on an updated accommodations list, in the mean time, you can search for yourself using platforms such as Air BnB, Lekker Slaap, Booking.com, or SA-Venues.com.​
TRAVEL
Clarens is centrally located between Joburg, Durban and Bloem thus there are several travel routes to choose from. Some of these routes are better maintained than others and the current best options are:

JHB: N3 - Villiers - Frankfort - Reitz - Bethlehem - Clarens

DBN: N3 - Harrismith - Golden Gate - Clarens

BFN: N1 - N5 - Bethlehem - Clarens
​
Please be vigilant on all inner roads as potholes tend to develop overnight!
